While fans of Pasta, Pasta, Pasta were sad to see the restaurant go, its replacement has already started to create quite the stir. So Perfect Eats, which is described as a “lifestyle cafe” and is owned and operated by former senior VP director of Pacific Sunwear Lynda Campbell, provides its customers with food and entertainment all at the same time.

The café, which is decorated with turquoise, lime green and white colors, provides customers with a place to learn how to entertain at home while also providing homemade foods on its menu.

“We roast our own meats, make our own chutneys and jams, bake our own ciabatta and baguettes, and we cook and bake in small batches so that there’s no waste,” said Campbell.

Fresh-baked quiches, homemade breads, salads, homemade soups and desserts such as cookies, cupcakes and brownies are all on the menu, which changes seasonally.

“I’ve always been in fashion retail, but I’ve also always loved to cook, bake and entertain, and the café is really about how to entertain at home,” said Campbell. “My mom was a really good cook, and it wasn’t unusual for us to have thirty people over for dinner, and I’ve been cooking ever since I could reach the stove.”

So far, Campbell reports that business has been good.

“I have a small group of regulars that keep coming back and spreading the word, and while I’m not exactly where I want to be, I’m close, and it keeps getting better every day,” said Campbell. “We have everything here to make a holiday party perfect, and the pies are amazing.”

So Perfect Eats offers daily specials and is currently accepting pie orders for the holidays. The restaurant is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm and on Saturdays from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

For fans of Q Worldly Barbecue and Lounge, there is some very bad news to announce: the restaurant has officially closed its doors indefinitely.

Citing the poor economy and the summer construction as two major obstacles the restaurant has had to face recently, co-owner Bekah Donovan Pellegrin has provided very little hope that the restaurant will open its doors again.

“The short version is that the crappy economy and all the summer construction that was going on in Cherry Creek made it very difficult for us,” said Pellegrin, who also operates the Eco-Burger located just across the stairwell from Q’s. “There wasn’t any parking available, which interfered with a lot of things, and we’re coming into a slower time of year, and we couldn’t wait a whole other year to see if things picked up again.”

After being a part of Cherry Creek for two and a half years, Q Worldly Barbecue and Lounge was known for its international sauces, smoked big and live blues band performances. Despite the fact that Pellegrin and her husband, David, still have two years left on their lease, they say the possibility of reopening the restaurant is very slim.

“We still have the space for now, and there’s a very small possibility that we may reopen as the Q, but at the moment we’re weighing other options, talking to our customers and seeing what makes sense mathematically and financially.”

For now, the couple is focusing on building up business at Eco-Burger and is exploring the possibility of replicating the concept elsewhere.

“We know when we opened Eco-Burger that we might want to build more, so that’s something that we’re thinking about.”

At this time, the couple hasn’t created any solid plans for opening another Eco-Burger. There are, however, other restaurant options popping up elsewhere in Cherry Creek for those who will miss the Q. Sweet Ginger Asian Bistro & Sushi, for example, is slated to open later this month on 2710 East Third Avenue, which is where Plush once was located.

“We want to try and open before Thanksgiving, and we should have our liquor license by next week,” said Julie He, who is the owner of Sweet Ginger Asian Bistro & Sushi and the former owner of Jason’s Thai Asian Bistro. “It’ll be fusion, with a little bit of Thai, a little bit of Chinese and a little bit of sushi. I think Cherry Creek needs a Thai restaurant and that the neighborhood will be happy that we’re here.”

Yesterday, the Mexican cantina known as Tambien closed its door in Cherry Creek. Although the restaurant plans to reopen later in an undetermined location, the owners of the restaurant feel Cherry Creek simply isn’t a good fit for the restaurant.

“We want to protect and maintain the brand, but this is a young, hip, loud restaurant that will do well in a young, hip neighborhood, so we’re looking around to find a space that’s more appropriate for that kind of vibe,” said Jesse Morreale, who is one of the owners of the restaurant.

With the Cherry Creek lease expiring, Morreale and co-owner Sean Yontz decided to close the restaurant’s doors rather than signing a new one. The Tambien’s employees don’t have to worry about being out of a job, however, as all of the employees have been offered positions at other restaurants owned by Morreale, including Sketch, El Diabo, La Rumba and Rockbar.

Even as one restaurant closes its doors, another one is opening in Cherry Creek. In fact, the downstairs space located at 2710 East Third Avenue that was once home to Plush will soon become Sweet Ginger Asian Bistro & Sushi. Located next door to Argyll, the new restaurant will officially open in the middle of November. If all goes well at the liquor-license hearing, which will be held at 1:30 p.m. on October 7, the new restaurant will also be serving liquor along with its Asian cuisine. So, while some residents may be sorry to see Tambien leave the neighborhood, the opening of Sweet Ginger Asian Bistro & Sushi gives them something to look forward to.

Spicing up Cherry Creek North August 20-21

Tickets are on sale now for Cherry Creek North Food & Wine, presented by Steele Street Bank, a two-day celebration that will shine the spotlight on the vibrant culinary arts in the beautiful Cherry Creek North neighborhood on August 20th and 21st. The weekend event includes free culinary classes, an intimate Opening Night VIP Party of tastings with a celebrity chef, a Grand Tasting on Fillmore Plaza highlighting the breadth of chef talent among the restaurants in Cherry Creek North, and a host of wines and spirits to complete the culinary experience. As one of Cherry Creek North’s signature events, the culinary weekend will again be among the summer highlights!

Cherry Creek restaurateur Jim Sullivan has closed the doors on his last two Denver restaurant interests, after 11 years. Ocean, located at 201 Columbine St., and Nine75, located at 975 Lincoln St., both were shut down at the end of September.

Sullivan had opened Ocean a couple years back as a replacement for the ill-fated Mao, which failed to capture the attention of Denver’s fine dining denizens. Nine75 went the way of its Westminster predecessor, which also closed earlier this year.

Sullivan expects to spend time in other pursuits for the time being. “People just don’t have the money they once did,” said Sullivan, listing “fine dining” as one of the first luxuries to go, when hard times come.

Not everyone will feel like celebrating the election results on November 4th.  So if you’re having an election party, here’s a way to get a feel for your guests’ post election sentiments.  Everyone enjoy !

Red  Margaritas

Prep: 10 min.

Yield
Makes 6 servings (serving size: 1 cup)
Ingredients:

* 4  cups  crushed ice
* 1  cup  pomegranate juice
* 1/2  cup  orange liqueur
* 1/2  cup  tequila

* 1  tablespoon  lime juice
* 4  tablespoons  pomegranate seeds (1/2 fresh pomegranate) (optional)
* Lime wedges
* Coarse salt

* Garnish: lime slices

Preparation
1. Process first 5 ingredients, and, if desired, pomegranate seeds in a blender 30 seconds or until frothy.

2. Rub rims of 6 glasses with lime wedges; dip in salt to coat. Pour margarita evenly into prepared glasses. Garnish, if desired.  Serve immediately.

Blue Margaritas

Prep: 10 min.

Yield
Makes 6 servings (serving size: 1 cup)
Ingredients

* 1  (10-ounce) can frozen margarita mix
* 3/4  cup  tequila
* 1/4  cup  blue curaçao liqueur
* 2  tablespoons  lime juice

Preparation

1. For an even coating around the rim of each glass, dip first in lime juice and then salt.

2. Combine all ingredients in a blender. Fill with ice to 5-cup level, and process until smooth.

Serve immediately.
